Too bad Duncan Hunter dropped out--go Ron Paul!

Thanks for this informative post on the military record of some of our presidential candidates, and for all the other interesting posts here--I just found this website a few days ago, partially due to my connection with Armchair General.

George, keep up the good work and thanks for this podcast about the McCain naval dynasty.

Just one point - referring to the Battle of Savo Island off Guadancanal, George says, "4 American cruisers were sunk."

George - One of the cruisers was Australian. HMAS Canberra. So that's 3 American cruisers, and one Australian cruiser. (Some would consider HMAS Canberra a Heavy Cruiser.)

With respect to Admiral McCain's career during WWII, I suggest reading "America's Fighting Admirals" by William Tuohy for further details of his highlights, and a couple more low- lights. Incidentally, Tuohy gives a great overview of US Navy WWII actions in the course of his book.
